Olumuyiwa R. Gay MD, MPH, FAPA is a Board Certified Physician and Neuropsychiatrist specializing in Psychiatry, Neurology and Neuropharmacology. His expertise is Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry and Psychopharmacological Medication Management. Dr. Gay is one of the few Physician Psychopharmacologists in Upstate NY.
Dr. Gay's educational experience began at the International School of Geneva Switzerland, where he received an International Baccalaureate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. He then attended the University of Lagos College of Medicine, where he completed his M.D. With interest in public health issues affecting the medical community, he attended Loma Linda University School of Public Health in California, where he received his M.P.H. (Master Pubic Health).
Dr. Gay's then went on to Harvard University in Cambridge MA, where he received the honorable GSAS/Prize Fellowship in Medical Sciences. He completed his residency in Psychiatry at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Gay completed his Neuropharmacology/Neuroimaging Fellowship at John Hopkins University School of Medicine and obtained his Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY.
Dr. Gay founded Skaneateles Psychiatry in 2018 with a mission to offer exceptional psychiatric health care to Skaneateles and the surrounding areas. In addition to his private practice, he currently serves as Medical Director of Psychiatric Consultation at Crouse Hospital and a Staff Psychiatrist at CPEP (Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program) at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, in Syracuse, NY. Dr. Gay also is the founder and CEO of St. Andrews Neuroscience Medical Neuropsychiatry LLC.
Prior to Skaneateles Psychiatry, Dr. Gay's work experience included having served as a Staff Psychiatrist at the Central New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy, NY, the Greater Binghamton Health Center and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Syracuse, NY. He has worked as a Geriatric-Psychiatrist at the Binghamton Psychiatric Center in Binghamton, NY and as a Geriatric Neuropsychiatrist at Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro, Nova Scotia. Dr. Gay is a former Lecturer for the Psychiatry Department Dalhousie University Halifax, Nova Scotia and was the Preceptor of the Psychiatry Residency Program Upstate Medical Psychopharmacolgy program.
Dr. Gay served as the President of the American Psychiatric Association Central New York Chapter. Currently, he is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatry Association, Johns Hopkins Medical and Surgical Society, the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, the American Neuropsychiatric Association and the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry.
